## A Stream With No Owner

| Option | Good At | The Catch |
|---|---|---|
| Hire for It | Steady, core work | A search and a notice period before the first commit |
| Contractor by the Hour | Fast to find | Your best developer specs and checks the work |
| Pull a Senior off the Roadmap | The stream moves | The roadmap slips |
| **Varstatt** | Owns the stream from week one | One stream per team |

## Eight Ways to Start

- **[React & Next.js Development](https://varstatt.com/x/teams/react-development)** "The upgrade keeps losing to features." Small pull requests, no big-bang rewrite.

- **[Node.js Development](https://varstatt.com/x/teams/nodejs-development)** "Backend work waits on a hire." Endpoints, integrations, an API being retired.

- **[AI Development](https://varstatt.com/x/teams/ai-development)** "Nobody here has shipped an LLM feature." A prototype on your data first.

- **[n8n Development](https://varstatt.com/x/teams/n8n-development)** "Our workflows have no owner." New flows, code where nodes stop, monitoring.

- **[App Maintenance](https://varstatt.com/x/teams/app-maintenance)** "An old app still has users and no owner." Kept current and safe.

- **[Firebase Audit](https://varstatt.com/x/teams/firebase-audit)** "The bill keeps rising, or nobody trusts the rules." The bill tied to its code, every rule reviewed.

- **[DevOps Audit](https://varstatt.com/x/teams/devops-audit)** "Releases are slow and scary." Planning to monitoring, fixes ranked.

- **[Architecture Audit](https://varstatt.com/x/teams/architecture-audit)** "Every feature takes longer than the last." Why, what to fix first, whether a rewrite pays.

## Who It's For

**Right For**

- Someone on your team ranks the work and reviews pull requests

- Teams waiting on a hire: I carry the stream, then hand it over

- One job, like an upgrade or an audit week

**Better Elsewhere**

- 40 hours a week, timesheets, hourly augmentation *A staffing firm*

- Several streams at once *A larger team*

- Native mobile, Python, Go, PHP or Java backends *A developer of that stack*

## How It Works

A simple, predictable and transparent process that eliminates development headaches.

1. **Subscribe** — A dedicated task board for the stream, and I get your repo and team chat.
2. **Setup** — I run the product locally and map what is load-bearing around the stream.
3. **Plan & Develop** — Your team ranks the board. I take the top task and open a pull request that says why.
4. **Review & Refine** — Your team reviews each pull request. I revise until you're satisfied.
5. **Progress** — You approve finished work, and I move to the next task on the board.
6. **Maintain** — Issues you report go first. When a stream is done, point me at the next one.

## FAQ

### What's a stream of work?

One area of the product you hand over whole, like a React upgrade, the backend, an AI feature or your n8n flows. Your team ranks its tasks; I own them to production.

### What does a senior developer cost?

$997/week for a stream, as long as you keep me; an audit is one payment of $997. [Freelance rates compared](/jurij/p/what-a-freelance-web-developer-actually-charges).

### How do we hire for one stream?

Hire for the stream, not the title. A small first task in your code says more than an interview.

### Staff augmentation or retainer?

Outside developers added to your team, often hourly and managed by you. Here the price is weekly and I own one stream's outcome. [Freelancer, agency or retainer, compared](/jurij/p/whats-the-difference-between-freelancer-agency-and-retainer).

### Contractor or full-time hire?

A full-time hire for steady, core work; a contractor for a stream with an end, or the months before a hire lands. Often both, with [the handover built in](/jurij/p/isnt-a-solo-developer-a-bus-factor-of-one).

### What is a developer retainer?

A fixed fee for a developer's ongoing work. Here it's weekly, one task at a time, from a ranked board: [why weekly beats sprints](/jurij/p/why-weekly-retainers-work-better-than-sprints).

### What does full-stack cover here?

JavaScript and TypeScript, browser to server: React, Next.js, Node.js and Firebase, plus n8n and AI features on hosted models. [The default stack](/principles/delivery/default-stack).

### Do you work in our repo?

Yes: your repo, branch rules, CI and code review. Nothing merges without your approval, and a written update follows every session.

### How do we get started?

Fill in the [project form](/start?cta=teams-faq), about a minute. I reply the next working day; if it fits, with a first plan and a call invite.
