**What's included:**

- ✅ Senior developer
- ✅ Full code ownership
- ✅ Done in one week
- ✅ One price, paid once

- ❌ Billing surprises

**Get started:**

- [Start a Project](https://varstatt.com/start?cta=agent)
- [Ask Jurij](mailto:jurij@varstatt.com)

## Problems

- **Features Take Weeks Now** Changes touch files nobody meant to touch, and fixed bugs come back.

- **A Big Bet Is Coming** A rewrite, a new platform, a jump in users. Will the base hold? [Read the case](https://varstatt.com/jurij/p/soapnoteai-v2-now-serves-100-percent-of-users)

- **The Architect Is Gone** What's load-bearing, and what is safe to touch?

- **AI Wrote Much of It** Every feature works alone. Does the whole hang together?

## What You Get

| Area | Finding | Fix | Story |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bill | Security rules that read the database on every check, and a server that polled. | Data under each user's path, events not polling | [The story](https://varstatt.com/jurij/p/fidder-overengineering-made-me-pay) |
| Region | An AI feature's sandbox doesn't run in the customer's region. *The answer was in the docs.* | Ask where the data may go first | [The story](https://varstatt.com/jurij/p/it-works-you-cant-ship-it) |
| Keys | An OpenAI key in the frontend, no Firestore rules. | Calls move to Cloud Functions, rules added | [The story](https://varstatt.com/jurij/p/when-polish-over-security-costs-real) |

Also in the report: a rewrite-or-refactor verdict with each path's cost in weeks, and one page in business terms.

## Five Days, Then Your Call

| When | Step | What Lands |
|---|---|---|
| Days 1-3 | The Read | I trace the slowest change and the bug that keeps coming back |
| **Day 4** | The Report | Findings ranked by cost, each with file, fix and effort in days |
| Then | Your Call | Stop, or keep me on by the week to work down the list |

## Who It's For

**Right For**

- CTOs and tech leads who want a second opinion

- Teams that inherited a codebase

- Teams shipping with AI tools

**Better Elsewhere**

- Stacks outside JavaScript and TypeScript *A developer of that stack*

- The deploy pipeline and releases *A DevOps audit*

- Cloud design: VPCs, IAM, Kubernetes *A cloud engineer*

- Penetration tests, compliance certificates *A security firm or auditor*

## How It Works

A simple, predictable and transparent process that eliminates development headaches.

1. **Book** — Pay once and you get a dedicated task board. The audit is its first task.
2. **Setup** — Read access to the repo, hosting and logs, and a branch I can push the fix to.
3. **Plan & Develop** — The ranked list becomes your task list. You decide how far down I go.
4. **Review & Refine** — You review the report and the pull request. I revise until you're satisfied.
5. **Progress** — You approve the report. If you keep me on, I take the next item.
6. **Maintain** — If you keep me on, issues you report go first.

## FAQ

### What is a software architecture audit?

A software architecture review that ends in a ranked fix list and a pull request, not a call and a diagram. It doubles as a code audit and a tech debt assessment.

### What does a code audit cost?

$997, one payment: one week, report included. No contract.

### What does a code audit include?

Six areas, in the order they hurt: [structure](/jurij/p/build-apps-like-lego-bricks), data model, [failure handling](/jurij/p/production-bugs-that-never-threw-an-error), scale and cost, security at the seams, continuity.

### Can an AI tool audit our code instead?

Run one first: it catches local issues. It can't tell which module next quarter's roadmap will hit, or what has failed in production before.

### Should we rewrite or refactor?

Usually refactor: a rewrite costs most in the freeze. When a rebuild is honest, it runs beside the old app, [as it did for 8 months](/jurij/p/soapnoteai-v2-now-serves-100-percent-of-users).

### What's the tech stack?

JavaScript and TypeScript only, on the [default stack](/principles/delivery/default-stack). Other stacks: I say no rather than learn on your dime.

### What happens after the report?

Keep me on by the week and I work down the list, one task at a time. Or hand it to any developer: it's written for them.

### What if the audit isn't useful?

I revise the report until you're satisfied.

### How do I start, and how soon?

Fill in the [project form](/start?cta=architecture-audit-faq) and name the change that hurts most. I reply the next working day; if it fits, with a first plan and a call invite.

## [Teams × Varstatt](https://varstatt.com/x/teams)

Architecture Audit fits product teams best: CTOs and tech leads who need a senior on one part of the product.

- **[React & Next.js Development](https://varstatt.com/x/teams/react-development)** "The upgrade keeps losing to features." Small pull requests, no big-bang rewrite.

- **[Node.js Development](https://varstatt.com/x/teams/nodejs-development)** "Backend work waits on a hire." Endpoints, integrations, an API being retired.

- **[AI Development](https://varstatt.com/x/teams/ai-development)** "Nobody here has shipped an LLM feature." A prototype on your data first.

- **[n8n Development](https://varstatt.com/x/teams/n8n-development)** "Our workflows have no owner." New flows, code where nodes stop, monitoring.

- **[App Maintenance](https://varstatt.com/x/teams/app-maintenance)** "An old app still has users and no owner." Kept current and safe.

- **[Firebase Audit](https://varstatt.com/x/teams/firebase-audit)** "The bill keeps rising, or nobody trusts the rules." The bill tied to its code, every rule reviewed.

- **[DevOps Audit](https://varstatt.com/x/teams/devops-audit)** "Releases are slow and scary." Planning to monitoring, fixes ranked.

- **Architecture Audit (this page)** "Every feature takes longer than the last." Why, what to fix first, whether a rewrite pays.
