Letters Back, Book Drawn and Roles Mapped
Why this newsletter waits for three things, a picture for every page of my Principles book, and four role pages for my weekly retainer.
Hello there,
Writing this with my Claude usage at 98% of the weekly limit, so I'm keeping it short: 3 updates from me.
Letters Back
Until now every post went out as its own email: months of silence, then an email that only repeated the post. Now each letter is also a page in Letters. If someone forwarded you this, the signup sits at the top of my blog.
I've always liked letters with three things in them. That's why there's no schedule: no third thing, no letter. This time it's the newsletter itself, the book and the offers.
What that looks like, one block short:

Fun fact: nine agents debated this newsletter's shape. Their send rule would have fired almost every week, so three things it is.
Book Drawn
In case you didn't know, I have a short book about software delivery on my site: five chapters and 33 principles that separate work that ships from work that drifts.
Now that my own AI setup makes visuals I like, every chapter and principle has one, plus the front page and The End: 40 in all. Claude Code draws each one as HTML in my site's style, and Chrome renders it.
The PDF carries them too, now 124 pages, and you can download it straight from the page, no email needed.
The book's front page, after six rejected rounds:

Fun fact: over 400 drafts went into these 40, with four agents drawing six visuals a round. Of the six visuals I already had, only two survived.
Roles Mapped
It started as a refresh of my service offer. The old headline, Ongoing Product Development on Weekly Retainer, left out the automation work I do. So the homepage now reads Software & Automation On Weekly Retainer. That's my fifth repositioning in about 18 months, and the price never changed.
The bigger part came while thinking it through: the people I work with fit a 2x2, solo or team, software or automation.
Each role, and who I am for them:

The four roles are founders, solopreneurs, teams and agencies, each with its own page and offers.
Fun fact: 98 agents built the first version of these 33 pages. Then three more played a founder, a CTO and an agency owner, and their notes became 93 edits.
More things are brewing right now. But I've learned from past mistakes, so I don't talk about them until they're done.
Thanks for reading. Hit reply if you have feedback on the book, or just to tell me what you're building.

I run a solo business and produce software. Usually I'm shipping for clients or building for myself. Sometimes I pause to write about it.
